What Does a MRCP Scan Involve?

An MRCP (magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography) scan specifically images the bile ducts, gallbladder, and pancreatic duct. The scan takes around 30-40 minutes and does not require contrast dye — it uses specialised sequences that make fluid appear bright. It is used to investigate gallstones, bile duct blockages, and pancreatic conditions.
