What it is

Mounjaro is a once-weekly injection. The active ingredient is tirzepatide. It is a prescription-only medicine, made by Eli Lilly, supplied in a KwikPen. Each pen holds four weekly doses of one strength.

How you take it

Inject under the skin of the abdomen, thigh or upper arm, once a week, on the same day. Needles are not in the pack. A clinician starts most people at 2.5mg and steps the dose up.

  • 2.5mg KwikPen
  • 5mg KwikPen
  • 7.5mg KwikPen
  • 10mg KwikPen

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial, average weight change was larger than with placebo. That is a study average, not a result you are promised.
