What does the urinalysis test measure?

Our urinalysis test is a comprehensive Type II urine analysis that includes both chemical analysis and urinary sediment analysis. This provides a complete picture of your kidney function, metabolic health, hydration status, and urinary tract health.

Chemical Analysis Markers:
– pH
– Protein
– Glucose

Your results provide insights into hydration, kidney function, and urinary tract status — any concerning result should be discussed with your GP.

How do I collect my urine sample?

The test includes a sterile urine collection cup and test strip, with clear step-by-step instructions. Simply collect a small amount of midstream urine, dip the strip briefly, and follow the timing guidance to read the results. You’ll then upload a photo via our app or portal for analysis, depending on the kit version.

Do I need to fast or change my routine beforehand?

No fasting is required. However, for best results, we recommend testing your first urine of the day, which is more concentrated and reflective of overnight metabolism.

How long do results take?

Results are typically reviewed by a medical team and delivered digitally within 24 to 48 hours after submission.

Who reviews the results?

All results are reviewed by UK-registered doctors, with context-specific commentary when relevant. If any urgent findings are detected, you’ll be notified promptly.

Is this a diagnostic test?

Our urinalysis is designed for screening and monitoring, not diagnosis. It can flag markers that warrant further investigation, but it does not replace a clinical consultation or diagnosis by a healthcare provider.

Where is the test analysed?

Samples are analysed by our UKAS-accredited (ISO 15189) UK partner laboratory. The Lola mobile application that displays your results is a wellness and informational software product. Your doctor's review carries the clinical interpretation.

Can this test detect a UTI?

It includes leukocytes, nitrites, and blood — markers doctors use as part of evaluating urinary tract status. A formal diagnosis requires confirmation by a healthcare professional, especially if symptoms are present.

Can I use this test while on supplements or medication?

Certain medications or supplements (like vitamin C or antibiotics) may affect the strip’s chemical reactions. If you’re taking medication, please let us know via the app at the time of submission so our doctors can interpret your results accordingly.

How often should I take a urinalysis test?

It depends on your health goals. For general wellness, quarterly testing may suffice. For those on longevity, fasting, or metabolic health programmes, monthly tracking provides more actionable insight.

Lola FAQ

Choosing and Comparing Tests

What test is suitable for me?

For the most tailored guidance, it’s best to consult with your GP, as they can help identify which biomarkers are most relevant based on your medical history and symptoms. However, if you already have a list of specific biomarkers in mind, we’re happy to suggest the most suitable test kit based on that. You can also explore our full range of tests here: https://lolahealth.com/collections/all.

How can I compare products?

To compare different test kits side by side, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to https://lolahealth.com/collections/all.
  2. Search for the kits you want to compare.
  3. Tick the “Add to Compare” box next to each product you want to compare.
  4. Once you’ve added at least two products, you’ll notice a small green box at the bottom left of the page that says “Compare.”
  5. Click on that box to view the side-by-side differences.

This comparison will help you clearly see which kit includes the biomarkers and tests most relevant to your health concerns.

Buying for someone else?

We understand that you may occasionally wish to purchase a test for another person. While direct purchases on behalf of others aren’t available, the easiest alternative is to buy one of our gift cards, valid for 12 months. You can get a gift card here. If you’ve accidentally ordered a test under your account for someone else or need to transfer an order, please contact us as soon as possible before the sample is collected so we can reassign the test to the correct individual.
